The Solution:
The Period Purse Project
What We Do: With the help of your generous donations, we are able to purchase, prepare and supply female youth with prepared menstrual purses which include sanitary napkins, tampons, panty liners, vaginal wipes, etc.
But That's Not All! With female empowerment being chief foundational piece to our mission, and with self-care being key to self and community empowerment—included in each purse are self-care items such as: Lip Balm, Body Wash, Hand Sanitizer, and Hand Lotion.
Last, But Certainly Not Least... According to Oxford Languages Dictionary, Self-Esteem is defined as confidence in one's own worth or abilities; self-respect. Thus, also included in each purse is an affirmation card, as well as an affirmation bracelet.

"The period purses will support healthy hygiene habits. By having menstrual supplies on hand, students will not miss class time in order to track down supplies if they have their period purses at school.
—C. Hill (School Nurse), Royal Oaks School of the Arts
"We have many students and their families who need additional support purchasing supplies, including hygiene supplies. We have noticed a particular need for these supplies this year with our 4th and 5th graders. We will distribute the period purses when we do our puberty lesson, and as needed.
—M. Pintler (Guidance Counselor), Fred L. Wilson Elementary School
"Period Purses are so helpful to have when supporting our young girls who are experiencing a period for the first time. We want girls to feel comfortable talking about what is going on, asking questions if they have any, and feeling confident about their hygiene and body. Period Purses help with all of that!"
—C. Savage (Guidance Counselor), Hurley Elementary School

"The period purses Wolf Meadow Elementary School received from Awakenher Wellness have been a blessing to our students. The beautiful purses with all the essential feminine hygiene products, plus lip balm, a positive message, and a beautiful purse has brought huge smiles to the girls who sometimes are embarrassed to talk about having their period. Our teachers have asked to keep some in their classrooms and are so grateful for having a self-esteem-boosting resource for the students. Awakenher Wellness has generously donated 85-period purses to give to each of our 5th-grade girls. We are grateful for this one-of-a-kind and very thoughtful gift."
